Busy Is Me

I have been so busy with work adn all else, that I havent really taken much time to come here and write some. SO with that, I better get updating (until I have to do else).

Kyera starts at Uni Maryland today. Took her into campus and that took a royal 50+ minutes. Not my idea of commuting, but she needs to get there as inexpensively as possible and so I drive. Its rough sitting in traffic, after getting use to not having as much since moving from Manassas.

Got a Treo 600 yesterday from a person from Craigslist. That is one great site for finding just about anything. I found this one and it was at a great price. I am using some time as an evaluation period about whether to do a converged device or not. I think that I might like it for convience's sake more than anything. It was great leaving the house and having only a wallet, Treo, and sync cable to carry. Very compact.

Last weekend, I went on a men's retreat (check out the website here). I am working on the site and hopefully can get things up in such a way that friends, family, and those men interested can get to know the Elite.

This weekend I am back in Lancaster for a Teen Camp. It will be kool as I will be talking about how to use technology to bring the Gospel to people. As teens, they will have a really good knowledge of what they can do; but I want to take their brains and show them how with God's Spirit, they can really change the world. It should be really fun.

To those that have been waiting for me to call you... keep waiting
Nah, just kidding. I'll be catching up with calling people soon. For now, that is all of my updates, I will probably do some from the Treo just to be funny. Until later, peace and blessings.

An Oldie But Goodie

Last night, I took about 2 hours to take a playlist of music from my laptop, and put that music on my Palm. I had been getting kinda tired of the same old songs, and needed something different. So this time, God played DJ, and did a really, really great job with the songs. Of about 290songs, 285 made it on my Palm.

So I am here at work, and since getting the new monitor, I havent had the easy accessibilty to my earphones, as I have had to stick them into the computer, instead of the monitor. So I am here listening to music via my Palm, and its kinda refreshing.

So the point, well I had just been listening to this song Every Time by CeCe Winans and it was refreshing to hear a song that I not heard in a long time. Then was the best part, the scripture that went with the song was Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." That too was an oldie but goodie. I have some calling to the Lord to do for sure; even in the mist of being here at work.

So if that is any help to anyone, get out an old CD/tape and see what might move your soul; you never know what could happen.

Rainday - So Why Arent I Sleeping

Rain days are good usually. At least when I am not so tired. I am still recovering from driving to Philly twice this weekend. I am glad that Jason was able to come down though. It was a good time resting (some rest outside of teh lot of driving).

Yesterday, my weekend continued in a sense. I went to Engadget's (www.engadget.com) Reader Meetup. It was basically a nerdy gathering, but everyone there was really kool. Met the guys that run the show, had a very good conversation with the site designer (her site here); and emt a few other folks with whom could be interesting movers and shakers soon. There was one guy I talked to that I wish that I got his info, he had this really neat idea on education of people in simple tech. That was a great disucssion.

Today, I am still here. I should be able to make it home, just to sleep some. Me and sleep have to get together. At least right after some catching up on some reading. And to think, I have added two books to read. Yikes.

Congrats to Kyera and Jason who are now back in school for the Fall. Ha ha, you got homework :)

New Sight

I am sitting here at work and just installed a new monitor to my workstation. The other monitor has this nice habit of taking a while to warm up and therefore half the screen would show fine and the other half would be quite off. I complained about it a few times and now I have a new monitor. This new one has a digital input signal, making for a very nice view of everything. Whites are white, and greys are grey. Its really a heck of a nice change. My cubicle neighbor has the same monitor, but thru a serial vga input and the difference is quite notiable. He wants digital now too :) Again I am starting people moving to something different. Does it ever end? :D

Mobile Ministry Magazine Issue 2 Now Released

Well, to those that might not have time to click around this site to see what else I am up to, there is a section on the bottom right that leads to a website started earlier this year called Mobile Ministry Magazine. It is basically my heart to use technology to the glory of God, and to that end to equip other believers in specific computing areas so that they are able to reach the ends of the earth to spread the Gospel.

Being that Mobile Ministry Magazine is also a website, there is a good deal of information that gets posted there 5-6 days a week. Beisdes news, there is also questions of the applicaiton of the Word in particular situations, as well as where the Word has been shown to come up in secular society.

Now, besides the website, there is the actual magazine; now at Issue 2, that is the point of Mobile Ministry Magazine. If you like it, send the link to a friend. Or better, print it out and share the tech and Word with someone who might otherwise find tech magazines a bit harder to read. Yes, this is a ministry, but its my hope that it remains accessable. The links to the files below will open in PDF, so you might need Acrobat Reader if you dont have it. And if you do, I'd appreciate your reading and feedback. I am by no means perfect, and many things I will miss.

To those that have waited for this second issue, its here. I hope that its as good as the first. To those that didnt even know there was a first, that one is still availiable for download as well. Check it out, and may the Lord richly bless you.

A Driver's Stop

Many people that know me, know that I drive in the left lane if possible, and have little patience for anyone in that lane driving slower than the person in a slower lane. I know, its something that I do get told about all the time, and usually have to listen to jazz just to keep my own agressiveness down. Sometimes, it just gets at me that people can drive slower than the flow of traffic for a given lane, and then expect NOT to be an accident risk (especially on the highway).

Now, I do have a bit different driving tatics for city driving. Usually, I will err on the side of people are crazier than not because they are made to go slower. Watching for people who run stop signs and turning on red lights makes me the more cautious driver there. I think that one has to be, some people are outright silly.

Then today, I read an article at Autoblog (link here) about a family of 5 who were in a really bad accident (3 of them killed by a person who ran a stop sign); and it made me think the more about how I approach driving in the DC Metro. One has to be cautious for the silly people, but also for the people who are blatant in their disregard for simple rules of the road.

I feel really bad for this family, as they were driving a classic car (worth a chunk over a million) and had to lose life over such silliness. I know that for me, it will make me drive that much safer. I dont want lives on my hands, or under my wheels.

One comment was kinda funny, but very true:
"Come on. It's an all but established fact that H2 and status-motivated BMW drivers are the worst drivers on the roads. Except for teenages. And women talking on cell phones while trying to manuever their Tahoes/Expeditions. And anybody driving ten or more miles per hour beneath the speed limit."

Its a shame, but I see that a lot around here. So if you are coming to visit anytime soon, call this your warning. Folks do a ton of posturing for looking big on teh road. A ton.
