Portfolio

A Little Bit of Everything

The best way to describe this portfolio is that it is a little bit of everything. While there are three main sections, each of the items contain multiple disciplines in their execution. I tend to think of this page as a canvas record more than a literal history. That being said, some items may or may not have relevance. They are still listed here as they speak towards the development of my skills and character.

Youth Enrichment Services of Lake Norman (proposed)

Image: Thumbnail of Portfolio item, via WebSnappr Youth Enrichment Services of Lake Norman was a quick mock up of a single page design that had all important information needed for this organization to establish a web presence. While a simple design, this page takes advantage of semantic XHTML, CSS, and microfotmats in order to be presently relevant, and future extendable.

  • Grandpa Huey (November 2006)
  • TeaTime Style (December 2006)
  • Default Bold
  • Good Friday (Easter 2007)

  • Palm iPhone (July, 2007)

Palm Bible+

Image: Thumbnail of Portfolio item, via WebSnappr As an avid Bible reader and PDA user, in seeing the antiquated design of the Bible+ website, I was moved to assist the developer by creating a website that would both serve the purpose of showing more people what the program is capable of, as well as looking like the program in order to create brand recognition for Bible+. A small design freshening in 2005 added usability features and some mobile accessbility to the manual and front page sections. The front page was redesigned in Summer of 2007 to the current design. The new front page addressed issues with content trimming, semantic and accessible HTML, and an emphasis on fewer image elements in order to make the design work.

Prince Georges County Government Portal Redesign

Image: Thumbnail of Portfolio item, via WebSnappr I was involved with the redesign of the Prince George’s County Government website redesign and had an additional idea about the design that never made it to a client-viewable status. The goal here was to redesign the front page only, keeping the emphasis on the photos, maximizing the available screen space (regardless of resolution), and making elements of the page extendable for future use. The purpose for this design was to create an accessible and more fluid portal page that addressed needs for an increasing amount of client content.

Light of Hope Church (Kenya) Design

Image: Thumbnail of Portfolio item, via WebSnappr After speaking with a friend from Kenya, I got the inspiration to design a website for him that would be both usable on mobile devices, as well as to their funders in other countries who might be using a desktop or laptop to browse their website. The website was not completed for him, but mainly as a design exercise on accessible website design without using server side scripting.

Prince George’s County, County & Visitor’s Bureau Proposal Design

This was a design proposal for the County & Visitor’s Bureau. Though accepted as a possible future design, the heavy emphasis on Flash in this design was discarded for a search engine-freiendly HTML version.

MMM Mobile Experiment Report

Image: Thumbnail of Portfolio item, via WebSnappr In April of 2008, I conducted a experiment where I used a web server that was on my mobile phone in place of the traditional web servers used to house and server Internet websites. This mobile website replaced Mobile Ministry Magazine (MMM) for 8 days. The report details the challenges faced in doing this, as well as the response towards this control of mobile technology can have for those in religious and non-profit organizations as personal and small-team communication solutions.
